In a deeply disturbing incident, a 46-year-old individual, previously convicted of child sex offenses, stands accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl within a public restroom located in the southern region of Sydney. Shockingly, the accused was reportedly under police supervision during the time of the alleged assault. The individual was arrested at 5 pm on the very same day the young victim reported the assault. The distressing incident unfolded at Pole Depot Park in Penshurst, transpiring on a Monday morning around 7:30 am.
According to authorities, the accused, who had a history of child sex offenses, purportedly recorded the assault within the confines of the restroom cubicle. Alarmingly, it has been revealed that the individual lived near the playground where the incident occurred. Law enforcement asserts that the two individuals initially connected through a social media platform and had been engaged in several days of online conversation prior to the accused allegedly enticing her to the park.

Deputy Premier Prue Car has reacted to the disturbing allegations, describing them as "shocking." A spokesperson from Corrective Services NSW mentioned that the person on parole was being supervised as per the law, which applies to sentences shorter than three years. Before being released, he went through a thorough "strict risk assessment." He also followed the requirement to regularly report to the police according to his bail conditions.
The man now faces a series of charges, including producing child abuse material, aggravated sexual intercourse with a child aged between 14 and 16, and using a child over 14 to produce child abuse material. In a recent legal development, he was denied bail at Sutherland Local Court. His next court appearance is scheduled at Downing Centre Local Court on October 26, as the community grapples with the profound impact of this tragic incident.
