The Israeli flag previously stolen from Woollahra Council in Sydney's eastern region has now been replaced. The council has confirmed the theft and revealed that security camera footage showing an individual taking the flag has been submitted to the police for investigation.
Mayor Richard Shields explained the council's decision to fly the flag, emphasizing its significance to those in the Woollahra community with Jewish ties or family in Israel. "The flag's presence represents our community's strong solidarity with Israel, especially in light of the tragic loss of over 1400 innocent lives," commented Shields.
Mayor Shields also drew attention to the 239 Israelis currently held by a globally recognized terrorist group, stating, "It's crucial for our community to remain steadfast in its support until every single hostage is safely returned."
