While a formal ceasefire is not currently feasible, Biden has expressed that the negotiations for the temporary cessations took longer than he had hoped.
During a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Biden requested these daily pauses and proposed a more extended three-day break to facilitate discussions regarding the hostages.
National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby indicated that the initial humanitarian pause would be communicated on Thursday, with Israel committing to announce each four-hour period with a minimum three-hour notice.
