The spokesperson for the health ministry, Ashraf al-Qudra, has conveyed alarming details regarding the Israeli attack on the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza, in a recent conversation with Al Jazeera Arabic.
He disclosed that the Israeli military had unleashed relentless gunfire upon the Indonesian Hospital and deployed drones to target anyone within the hospital courtyard. Moreover, since Monday morning, the hospital had been sealed off, with no one allowed to enter or exit.
Comparing this dire situation to the infamous events at al-Shifa Hospital, al-Qudra remarked, "What the Israeli occupation is perpetrating at the Indonesian Hospital closely resembles their actions at al-Shifa Hospital. We are deeply concerned and apprehensive that they may repeat the massacre that occurred at al-Shifa."
He continued, "By doing so, the Israeli military is extinguishing the last glimmer of hope for medical treatment in northern Gaza. This dire situation leaves approximately 800,000 to 900,000 individuals without access to a hospital, potentially resulting in the tragic loss of lives among those afflicted with chronic illnesses or injuries."
Al-Qudra also highlighted that al-Shifa Hospital still accommodated 700 individuals, including 259 patients, underscoring the gravity of the healthcare crisis in the region.
