In a terrifying incident that unfolded in Oatley, South Sydney, young man’s online date meets up took a drastic turn as he found himself facing a shotgun and multiple stab wounds.

The evening of Thursday, at approximately 10:25 pm, saw emergency services rushing to Mi Mi Street following reports of a car collision with a parked vehicle.

On arrival, paramedics discovered a 23-year-old man, the driver of the crashed vehicle, with minor knife injuries. As a precautionary measure, he was swiftly transported to St George Hospital for medical attention.

 

 

 

Before being taken to the hospital, the shaken young man confided in a bystander, recounting a chilling encounter that unfolded just moments earlier.

He explained that he had crashed his car deliberately, desperately attempting to flee from two assailants who had threatened him with both a knife and a double-barrelled shotgun.

In his unsettling account to the bystander and subsequently to the police, the young man revealed that he had picked up a woman he had met online for a date. To his dismay, two men suddenly entered the backseat of his car, menacingly demanding his phone and wallet.

With fear and uncertainty gripping him, the victim narrated, "All of a sudden two guys jumped in the backseat, one has a shotgun at the back of my head.

The other guy has a knife, so I didn't know what to do. Then the guy with the gun jumped out and said, 'give me all your stuff.'"

In a desperate bid to escape his attackers, he took a split-second decision to crash his car intentionally, providing a momentary opportunity to escape.

He climbed out of the car window and fled the scene, leaving behind his wrecked vehicle.

CCTV footage captured one person within a group brandishing a shotgun, validating the presence of armed individuals.

Police investigations confirmed that the young man had indeed arrived at the location to meet the woman he had connected with online.

According to their statement, shortly after he entered his vehicle, a man approached the driver's side, wielding a shotgun and demanding his mobile phone.

The woman exited the vehicle, and in his frantic attempt to escape, the 23-year-old driver accelerated away, ultimately colliding with a parked car.

In response to this disturbing incident, law enforcement officers have cordoned off the area, initiating a thorough investigation into the matter.

Authorities are appealing to anyone with information or possessing dashcam or mobile phone footage related to the incident to come forward and assist with their inquiries.
