President Joe Biden has vowed a response following a lethal drone strike that claimed the lives of three American soldiers and injured numerous others.
The incident occurred at a military base in northeast Jordan, close to the Syrian border. The President attributed the attack to Iran-supported militias, marking the first American casualties in a series of assaults by such groups on U.S. forces in the Middle East during the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
While in South Carolina, President Biden took a moment during his visit to a Baptist church banquet hall to honour the fallen soldiers. "Last night in the Middle East was difficult. We lost three courageous individuals in an assault on our base," he stated, followed by a moment of silence, and then declared, "and we shall respond."
As tensions escalate, U.S. officials are diligently working to accurately identify the group responsible for the attack. While it is believed that an Iranian-backed group is behind this act, efforts are underway to confirm this assessment. The situation underscores the growing risk of military confrontation in the region.
