Waitress Kaitlyn Brande ignited a discussion on social media by observing the contrasting habits of "boomers" and Gen Z diners in a restaurant setting.

She took to TikTok, creating a viral video that highlights the disparities in how each generation leaves their tables after dining.

The video has now collected over 1 million likes. Kaitlyn starts the clip by showcasing a table she claims was occupied by five "boomers." It was left a mess.

Nearby to it, Kaitlyn alleges there was a table with six Gen Z diners, and it presented a striking contrast. The plates were neatly stacked, and the table was orderly.

In her caption, Kaitlyn stated, "They get paid to do that VS we know restaurant life is hard here, let us help you out."
Surprisingly, many commenters did not seem to empathize with the waitress's perspective.

Some argued that it was not a customer's responsibility to clean the table and criticized the notion of expecting customers to do so. Others pointed out that it was part of her job, regardless of the generation.

However, some commenters acknowledged the generational difference and shared their own experiences. They mentioned that they always stack and clean up their tables and leave a generous tip, understanding the challenges of working in the industry.

In an interview with Buzzfeed following the video's viral success, Kaitlyn clarified her intention: "I posted it because I found it ironic that older people often demand respect.

I'm not suggesting I expect people to stack their plates like that because, hey, I'm a person too. I want to dine out and not worry about dishes. All I'm saying is that it was considerate and helpful of the younger generation, and I appreciated it."
